All 48 UK Police Forces
Independent directory of every UK police force — territorial, national and special. Each profile links to the official force website and recruitment page.
Unofficial independent resource — always verify with official sources (College of Policing, your force, PFEW).
How UK policing is organised
The United Kingdom currently has 43 territorial police forces across England and Wales, Police Scotland (a single national force formed in 2013), and the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). In addition, a number of national and special forces operate alongside them — the British Transport Police (railways and stations), Ministry of Defence Police (MoD sites), Civil Nuclear Constabulary (civil nuclear sites) and the National Crime Agency (serious and organised crime, though NCA officers are not constables in the same statutory sense). Together these make up the 48 forces and policing bodies profiled on this page.
Each force is operationally independent. Pay scales and pension schemes are largely standardised across England and Wales through the Police Regulations 2003 and the Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB), with equivalent arrangements in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some forces pay an additional geographic allowance — London Weighting plus a London Allowance at the Met and City of London, and a South East allowance at Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Thames Valley (up to £3,000) or Bedfordshire, Hampshire and Sussex (up to £2,000). Specialist units, transfer ease, vetting timeframes and tattoo policies all vary by force — which is why we publish a profile per force rather than treating UK policing as one undifferentiated career market.
What each profile contains
Every profile shows officer and staff numbers, region, urban/rural mix, any pay supplement, specialist units we are aware of, and indicative satisfaction scores (clearly labelled estimated). Each profile also links to the official force website and (where the slug matches) the relevant police.uk page, plus a topic-template page covering pay, joining, transferring, welfare and similar — those topic pages are independent summaries with sources.
Independence
BlueLineHub is independent and unofficial. We are not affiliated with any UK police force, the Home Office, the College of Policing, the Police Federation of England and Wales, Oscar Kilo, Police Care UK, the Police Remuneration Review Body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct or the National Police Chiefs' Council. For current recruitment campaigns, vacancies, eligibility and exact application timing, always go to the force's own recruitment page — links are on every profile.
