AI Use Disclosure
Transparency about where AI tooling is — and isn't — used in BlueLineHub content production.
Unofficial independent resource — always verify with official sources (College of Policing, your force, PFEW).
Last reviewed: May 2026.
In plain English
BlueLineHub editorial uses AI tooling (large language models and writing assistants) to draft, summarise, and structure some content during production. We are explicit about this so officers, staff, applicants and families know exactly what they are reading.
Every page is reviewed by a human editor against official sources before publication. The AI tooling is a writing aid — it is not the authority. The authority is the official source list on each page (College of Policing APP, Police Regulations, PFEW guidance, force-specific HR policies and similar).
Where we use AI
- Drafting article scaffolds — outline a topic, suggest a structure for an editor to fill in and verify against sources.
- Plain-English rewrites — turning dense regulatory text into readable summaries. Editors then verify wording against the source document.
- Cross-linking and consistency checks — surfacing related glossary terms or guides we could link from a new page.
- Spotting gaps — comparing an article against an editorial checklist to highlight missing sections (FAQs, sources, “what to do first”).
- Internal tooling — code generation and refactoring during site development.
Where we do NOT use AI
- No live AI generation at request time. Every page you see on BlueLineHub was pre-written and reviewed before publication. We do not generate content on the fly while you browse.
- No user data sent to AI providers. When you fill in a tool (CVF builder, promotion tracker, misconduct timeline, fitness log, welfare self-check), the data stays in your browser's local storage on your device. None of it is sent to any AI model, OpenAI, Anthropic, or any third party.
- No AI in the forum. Forum threads and replies are written by real users. We do not auto-generate forum posts or replies. Anonymous posting in the Welfare and Legal categories hides your identity from other users only — moderators can still see who posted (so we can enforce community rules).
- No AI in welfare or crisis routing. The Welfare Support Finder is a deterministic decision tree (a fixed set of questions and answers) — it routes you to official support services based on your inputs. It does not “chat” with you and it does not interpret your data.
- No AI replacement for advice. Nothing on BlueLineHub — AI-drafted or otherwise — is a substitute for your Federation representative, a solicitor, Occupational Health, your GP, your line manager, or your force's official policy team. We always signpost to the right human.
Our editorial verification
For each substantive page (guide, role, force, blog post, hub) the editorial process is:
- Outline drafted (sometimes with AI assistance).
- Source list compiled from official sources — College of Policing APP, gov.uk, PFEW, IOPC, HMICFRS, PRRB and force-specific HR pages.
- Content drafted against the source list.
- Human editor checks every factual claim against the cited sources.
- Page is dated with a “last reviewed” stamp and the source list shows “last checked” dates per source.
- Pages are re-reviewed on a rolling schedule (typically every 6 months, sooner for fast-moving topics like pay or pension changes).
You can read the full process in our Editorial Policy.
