How our content is reviewed, what our limits are, and where to find qualified professional advice.

Who Reviews Our Content
BlueLineHub content is written and reviewed by individuals with direct knowledge of UK policing, police regulations, and the career structures of England and Wales forces. Our review process involves cross-checking factual claims against primary authoritative sources — including the College of Policing APP, Police Regulations 2003, PFEW guidance, PRRB reports, and gov.uk publications — before content is published.
Pay and allowance content is reviewed against current PRRB determinations and PFEW pay circulars. Legal rights content is checked against the relevant statutory instruments and IOPC guidance. Career guidance is benchmarked against current force recruitment pages and College of Policing standards.
Where a topic falls outside our in-house knowledge base — for example, niche areas of misconduct procedure or highly force-specific practices — we note that limitation clearly within the content and direct readers to relevant specialists.
Our Limits
BlueLineHub is an independent information platform. We are not serving police officers, not a law firm, not a medical practice, and not affiliated with any regulatory body. This means there are things we cannot do:
- We cannot give legal advice. Information about Police Regulations, misconduct procedures, or employment rights on BlueLineHub is general guidance only — it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified solicitor or your Federation rep.
- We cannot advise on your specific force's internal policies. Force standing orders, local agreements, and HR policies vary significantly. We cover the national regulatory framework, not individual force practice.
- We cannot provide medical or occupational health advice. Content about fitness standards, mental health, and shift-related health is informational and should not replace advice from a registered health professional.
- We cannot advise on operational policing decisions. Nothing on BlueLineHub should influence decisions made in the field — these must be governed by APP, supervisory authority, and professional judgement.
Where to Seek Qualified Advice
For matters that require expert or professional guidance, please use the appropriate qualified resource:
- Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) — your first port of call for employment disputes, misconduct proceedings, pay queries, and legal representation. Contact your local Federation rep or visit polfed.org.
- Qualified solicitor — for criminal matters, civil claims, employment tribunal proceedings, or complex regulatory questions. Ensure they have experience in police employment law.
- Force HR department — for questions specific to your force's policies, leave entitlements, local agreements, and grievance procedures.
- Occupational health / force welfare team — for physical and mental health matters, fitness for duty questions, and referrals to specialist support.
- College of Policing — for professional development, learning resources, and APP guidance at college.police.uk.
Our Review Log
We maintain an internal review log recording when each substantive guide and tool was last reviewed, what source documents were checked, and what changes (if any) were made. This log is not published publicly but is available to journalists, researchers, or oversight bodies on request via our contact page.
Each published guide carries a “Last reviewed” date. Where content has not been reviewed within the current review cycle, we will note this and invite readers to verify information against primary sources. We do not present outdated content as current without disclosure.
