Editorial Policy
How we decide what to publish, how often we review it, and how you can flag inaccuracies.
Unofficial independent resource — always verify with official sources (College of Policing, your force, PFEW).

What We Publish
BlueLineHub publishes practical, officer-focused information about UK policing. Our content covers career progression, joining guidance, pay and allowances, promotion preparation, police regulations, welfare and wellbeing, legal rights, force comparisons, and community discussion. Every article and guide is written with serving officers, aspiring officers, and police families as the primary audience.
We aim to translate complex regulatory or procedural language into plain English without losing accuracy. Where technical precision matters — for example, Police Regulations 2003, pay circulars, or Authorised Professional Practice (APP) — we quote source documents directly and link to them.
Opinion and commentary content is clearly labelled as such. Factual guides and calculators are treated as editorial content subject to our full review process.
What We Don't Cover
BlueLineHub does not publish operational tactics, force-specific intelligence, information that could compromise officer safety, or content that identifies individuals in sensitive situations. We do not cover matters that are sub judice (before the courts) or publish content that could prejudice ongoing proceedings.
We do not provide legal advice, medical advice, or counselling. Where we cover legal rights or welfare, we always signpost readers to qualified professionals — the Police Federation, a solicitor, force occupational health, or a registered mental health practitioner.
We do not publish unverified rumours, anonymous tips presented as fact, or speculation about individual officers or cases. Community discussion in our forums is subject to a separate moderation policy.
Review Cycle
Evergreen guides — career overviews, promotion frameworks, welfare signposting, legal rights summaries — are reviewed on a quarterly basis. Each review checks for regulatory updates, broken links, and accuracy against current official sources.
Pay scales, allowances, and regulation-dependent content are reviewed on a monthly basis, and immediately when the PRRB report, a pay circular, or a relevant statutory instrument is published. Pay calculators are updated within five working days of confirmed pay award announcements.
Blog articles and community-driven content carry a published date and, where updated, a “last reviewed” date. We do not silently edit published articles — any material change is logged and, where relevant, a correction notice is appended.
Authoritative Sources
Our content draws on the following authoritative sources:
- College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice (APP)
- gov.uk — Home Office publications, statutory instruments, and circulars
- Police Regulations 2003 and associated determinations
- Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) guidance and circulars
- Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) reports and guidance
- His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS)
- Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB) annual reports
- Force public-facing policy documents and standing orders (where published)
Where we cite secondary sources, we cross-reference them against primary documents. We do not treat press releases, social media posts, or unofficial forums as authoritative sources for factual claims.
Advertising
We do not accept paid third-party advertising; if that ever changes we will update this policy first and clearly label any paid placement as such.
How to Flag Inaccuracies
We take accuracy seriously. If you believe any content on BlueLineHub contains an error, is out of date, or misrepresents official guidance, please tell us. Use our contact page and include the URL of the relevant page, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and (where possible) a link to the official source that contradicts it.
We acknowledge all accuracy reports within two working days and aim to resolve them within five working days. See our Corrections Policy for full details on how we handle and publish corrections.
