Crime rate by force area

Each of the 43 England & Wales police force areas, shaded by its recorded-crime rate per 1,000 residents (ONS). A per-head rate is a fairer way to compare whole forces than raw crime counts, which simply track how many people a force covers. Click an area for its force profile.

The City of London is shown as “n/a” — its resident population is tiny relative to its daytime working population, so a per-resident rate is not meaningful. Rates cover England & Wales; Police Scotland and the PSNI record crime under different systems and are not shown.

Neighbourhood crime volume

Recorded crime for June 2026 at neighbourhood level — every neighbourhood policing team, coloured by the number of street-level crimes recorded in its boundary.

Each point is a neighbourhood policing team, positioned at its boundary centre and coloured by the number of street-level crimes recorded within its boundary in June 2026. This is crime volume, not a per-head rate — larger or busier areas naturally record more. Greater Manchester and Gloucestershire are absent (they do not publish to the data.police.uk feed).
