Corrections Policy

How we handle errors, our turnaround commitment, and our approach to transparency.

Unofficial independent resource — always verify with official sources (College of Policing, your force, PFEW).

How to Report a Correction

If you believe any information published on BlueLineHub is factually incorrect, out of date, or misleading, we want to know. Corrections can be submitted via our contact page. Please include the following to help us investigate as quickly as possible:

  • The URL of the page containing the error
  • A description of the specific claim you believe is incorrect
  • The correct information, and (where possible) a link to an official source
  • Your name or contact details (optional — we accept anonymous reports)

We acknowledge all correction reports within two working days of receipt. You do not need to be a registered user to submit a correction request.

Our Five Working Day Turnaround

We commit to investigating and resolving all substantiated correction requests within five working days of acknowledgement. For corrections involving pay figures, legal rights, or regulatory information, we treat the review as urgent and aim to act within 48 hours of acknowledgement.

Where a correction requires significant rewriting — for example, where the underlying regulatory position has changed — we may apply an interim notice to the affected page while the full update is prepared. This notice will state that the content is under review and direct readers to official sources in the meantime.

If we investigate a report and determine that the original content is accurate, we will explain our reasoning to the person who raised the correction. We will not dismiss correction requests without investigation.

How Visible Corrections Are Made

BlueLineHub does not silently edit published content. Where a factual correction is made to an article or guide, we append a clearly formatted correction notice at the bottom of the affected page. This notice includes:

  • The date the correction was made
  • A brief description of what was corrected and why
  • The original text (where practical to include)

Minor corrections — such as fixing a broken link, correcting a typo that does not affect meaning, or updating a URL — may be made without a formal correction notice but will be logged internally. Structural or factual changes always receive a visible notice.

We do not delete articles to avoid accountability. Where content is substantially outdated or superseded, it is either updated with a correction notice or marked as archived, with links to current guidance.

Transparency Philosophy

We believe that getting things wrong — and correcting them openly — is more trustworthy than presenting an image of infallibility. Policing guidance, pay regulations, and legislation change regularly. BlueLineHub is a small independent platform, not a government body with a legal obligation to be current. We make mistakes.

What we commit to is transparency: we will not bury errors, downplay inaccuracies, or remove content to hide mistakes. If our content has caused a reader to act on incorrect information, we take that seriously and will note it in the correction record.

Our corrections history is available on request. If you are a journalist, researcher, or oversight body wishing to review our correction record, contact us at bluelinehub.co.uk/contact.
