Current priorities

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

•Engagement events continue as an opportunity for residents to raise concerns and highlight areas of ASB direct to officer, all reports help to assist officers in their patrol locations to ensure together we are providing a police presence in areas which have seen an increase in ASB. •Officers also continue to engage with young people to identify those at risk of becoming involved in ASB, providing early support, building positive relationships, and working with partners to divert individuals away from offending behaviour and towards more constructive activities.

Set: 2026-06-01

Operation Downsway Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences.

•Extra patrols, educational and enforcement activities across the district focused on targeting excess speed and distracted driving. •Continued partnership work alongside Community Speedwatch (CSW) groups with police support. •A number of police and partner deployments across the town in the last few months to tackle ASB driving, including excess speeding, have led to a number of positive stops and vehicle seizures. (Details of which have been posted our Lewes Police Facebook page).
