Current priorities

Drug harm reduction. Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.

•Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing, as well as partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area. •Continued work alongside partners, and local authorities to address community concerns, including partnership work with housing and British Transport Police. •A number of warrants and drug related arrests made this side of 2026, with details published to the 'News' section of our Sussex Police website.

Set: 2026-06-01

Operation Downsway Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences.

•Extra patrols, educational and enforcement activities across the district focused on targeting excess speed, distracted driving, as well as drink/drug driving continue into the Summer. •Continued work with partnership with Newhaven Town Council and Sussex Police Roads Safety Unit to set up a Community Speedwatch (CSW) for Denton, and once this has been completed then local officers will be able to help support the CSW group.

Set: 2026-06-01

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

•Neighbourhood Youth Officers continue to get into schools to engage with youngsters at key stages of devolvement to discuss ASB, low level crime and the effects actions can have on communities, officers also continue to regularly visit the Youth Centre to engage with youngsters. •Additional patrols of open green spaces and parks in the area, with officers activity engaging with youngsters and encouraging them into local groups or sports events in the town as an alternative to causing ASB in the area, these continue into the Summer months.
