Uttoxeter Town — Neighbourhood Policing Team

Local policing team in the Staffordshire Police area: contact routes, current priorities and public events.

All Staffordshire Police neighbourhoods

Uttoxeter is a fine traditional English market town, proud of its links with agriculture. Although the weekly animal sales are history, many families still earn their living from the land. The town was the place were Lichfield born Dr Samuel Johnson, author of the first proper dictionary, staged a celebrated penance and stood out in the rain for refusing to help out at his father’s bookstall. A monument to the event still stands in Uttoxeter’s Market Square.

Current priorities

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) including shoplifting and the anti-social use of vehicles.

Over the next three months, we will be looking to identify repeat calls of ASB between neighbouring locations, and look to apply a partnership approach with the local authority and housing agencies to tackle those issues. We also have powers such as Community Protection Warnings/Notices which can be used. The main concerns of shoplifting arise from the town centre retail park and we will be increasing our presence at that location to take positive action around those offenders we identify as responsible.

Set: 2025-05-31

Drug misuse.

Following community feedback, we will focus over the forthcoming three months to reduce the prevalence and impact of drug misuse within the community by disrupting illegal activity, supporting vulnerable individuals, and improving public safety through enforcement, education, and partnership working.

Set: 2025-08-28

Continued focus on drug misuse and its effects

Over the next three months, we’re prioritising action on drug misuse and the harm it causes in our community. This includes tackling drug-related crime, dealing with hotspots where misuse leads to anti-social behaviour, and addressing the wider impact on safety and wellbeing. You’ll see more high-visibility patrols, targeted operations, and enforcement against those involved in drug supply and misuse. We’ll also work in partnership with local authorities, health services, and community organisations to reduce harm, support vulnerable individuals, and keep our streets safe for everyone.

Set: 2026-06-01

Anti social use of vehicles

Over the next three months, the neighbourhood policing team will focus on tackling issues of inconsiderate parking and speeding, which the community has highlighted as key concerns. We will target areas where obstructive parking and excessive speeds are creating safety risks and reducing residents’ quality of life, using visible patrols, targeted enforcement and community intelligence to identify offenders, improve road safety and restore confidence in the affected locations.
