Current priorities

We work with the community and local partners, while also looking at our own data, to come up with priorities for North Yarmouth for the next three months. These are currently Tackling anti-social behaviour - focusing on alcohol/drug concerns and vehicle misuse.

We’ve used dispersal and other policing powers to address ongoing nuisance and disorder, including breaches of the Public Spaces Protection Order, with one young person being taken home for continuing non-compliance of it. A meeting was held with Market Gates management to agree joint actions to reduce antisocial behaviour. Task Force officers met with new council officials to align priorities and improve partnership working. Several arrests have been made in connection with town centre disorder, including for drunk and disorderly behaviour, drugs possession, and theft. One man was sentenced to six months in prison for possession of a bladed weapon. We continue to work closely with local businesses to provide reassurance and guidance, and to gather intelligence. A man was recently sentenced to 171 days in prison for breaching his anti-social behaviour injuction, given following behaviour within the town centre. Undertaken daily patrols with council staff. Two men issued with 'Acceptable Behaviour Contracts'. One man imprisoned for breaching his 'Antisocial Behaviour Injunction' in the town centre. One man arrested for breaching his 'Criminal Behaviour Notice'. Two E-scooters seized from the town centre. One man arrested for breaching his 'Criminal Behaviour Order' and sent to prison. Foot patrols of the Easter Fair. Four positive stop searches conducted. 14 shoplifters dealt with and banned from stores in the town centre. 16 Public Spaces Protection Order breaches and individuals reported for drinking from open cans of alcohol in the town centre. Joint networking with partners to reduce illegal parking in King Street. Night-time patrols around Chaucer Road, Tennyson Road, Beatty Road, and Caister Road in relation to reports of antisocial motorcycle riding. Also night-time patrols around Middle market in relation to suspect drug use/dealing.
