Current priorities
We work with the community and local partners, while also looking at our own data, to come up with priorities for Magdalen for the next three months. These are currently Tackling anti-social behaviour - focusing on alcohol/drug concerns and vehicle misuse.
• A successful warrant carried out at an address in Gorleston • Responded to calls for service in the area in relation to ASB - Two young persons have been identified by working with partner agencies as causing harassment and ASB on a bus to and from school. The two young persons have been issued with Acceptable Behaviour contracts. Uniformed Officers have also been carrying out patrols on local buses from Great Yarmouth to Gorleston covering Hotspot areas. • Conducted regular high visibility patrols in the area engaging with members of the public, businesses, partner agencies and local Councillors, gathering information and offering reassurance. Liaised with local councillors and residents, encouraging the reporting of incidents to help build a clearer intelligence picture to identify hotspot areas. • Pol-Ed educational inputs at local schools highlighting ASB impact and consequences being delivered by schools. • Repeat nuisance caller has been arrested and remanded to court. • Joint partnership working with Trading Standards around the local shops, one male arrested in relation to immigration offences. • Undertook regular high visibility patrols in the area, interacting with members of the public, local businesses, partner organisations, and councillors to gather information and provide reassurance. We work with the community and local partners, while also looking at our own data, to come up with priorities for the Magdalen area for the next three months. This is currently: Tackling anti-social behaviour, with a focus on ASB around local shops.
Regular foot patrols have been conducted around Sheldonian Court and Oriel Ave where youths were reported to be causing ASB to some of the local residents there. No further issues noted. We attended two addresses where neighbours were having general ASB related issues with each other alongside housing officer who issued good neighbour contracts to both. Another address with neighbours causing issues to each other was also visited and advice given to both to prevent further issues. Attended Gorleston Rangers FC community event at Emerald Park. Lots of families engaged with and children shown round the police car and got to try on the uniform. Foot patrols were also done of the event. Brooklands School on Magdalen Way was visited and children spoken to, as well as showing them the police car/uniform.
