Current priorities
Shoplifting and retail crime. Increased theft from shops and concerns regarding threats/violence towards retail staff.
There has been a marked reduction in reported offences in the area due to covert and overt hotspot patrols by the local policing team. A neighbourhood Specialist Officer has recently secured a charge and prison remand for eight shoplifting offences committed by the same perpetrator. The local team continue to engage with the local business community, increasing confidence and partnership working whilst relentlessly and robustly bringing repeat offenders to justice using anti-social behaviour legislation where appropriate. Ongoing policing operations continue in the town.
