How to join Nottinghamshire Police

Application stages

1. 1

   Online application

   The first step is to submit an online application through our vacancy portal.

   Application received and basic eligibility check

   Your application is received by our recruitment team who screen, and shortlist candidates based on the job requirements. The team will then conduct verification checks such as checking your driving license and qualifications.

3. 3

   National sift

   You’ll then be required to complete an online questionnaire-based assessment delivered by the College of Policing to be able to progress into the next stage of your application.

4. 4

   Assessment centre

   If you are successful following step four, you will be invited to take part in an online assessment centre delivered by the College of Policing which can include numerical tests, written exercises, and interactive evaluations.

5. 5

   Interview

   We’ll then invite you to our Headquarters to be interviewed by an officer and a member of police staff.

6. 6

   Conditional offer and pre-employment checks

   If successful, you’ll then go through further pre-employment checks which include but are not limited to a fitness test, a medical assessment, references, vetting, biometric and drugs testing.

7. 7

   Formal offer

   Once completed, you will receive a formal offer of employment from us, and we will confirm the start date of your cohort.
