PACE Codes of Practice
The statutory Codes of Practice issued under section 66 PACE 1984, reproduced verbatim from GOV.UK, chapter by chapter.
Codes A–H are the statutory Codes of Practice issued by the Home Secretary under section 66 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. They govern how the main police powers — stop and search, entry and search of premises, detention, identification, interview recording and arrest — must be exercised. Each chapter below is reproduced verbatim under the Open Government Licence v3.0, with a link back to the current version on GOV.UK.
This is a reference, not legal advice. Codes of Practice are periodically reissued — always verify against the current published Code before you rely on it.
