Minster and Katesgrove — Neighbourhood Policing Team

Local policing team in the Thames Valley Police area: contact routes, current priorities and public events.

All Thames Valley Police neighbourhoods

Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team. Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency. Neighbourhood Policing teams… Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners. May serve one or several neighbourhoods. Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns. Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer. Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008. Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people. Neighbourhood Policing… Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area. Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities. Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes. From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams. We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners. View Have Your Say summary and flowchart (PDF 40 Kb - opens new window) . Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively. Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention. Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour. Current priorities

Drug dealing/ASB is taking place at all times of the day in and around CARSDALE CLOSE and LAUD CLOSE. This is mainly taking place in public and is occurring throughout the day. TVP are liaising with partner agencies to identify issues and take action.

Working with STRONGHOLD (drugs team) to build up a profile of users and dealers.. Also working with the housing association around the individual drug users living in the area. Patrols of the area and looking at partial Closure Order in LAUD CLOSE where ASB is most prolific. Have liaised with STRONGHOLD which resulted in the arrest of 2 males for PWITS. CCTV has been erected in the footpath on SHEEPSLANE where dealing has been taking place. Working withy RBC to get a gate put in place to stop users congregating in waste land area. A closure Order has been applied for at a local address on WENSLEY RD where residents have been complaining about local drug users attending Acting on information provided by local residents 2 further Misuse of Drugs warrants were executed at local addresses. This resulted in the arrest of 3 persons. 1 was released no further action whilst the other two are currently on remand awaiting trial. An extension was granted for another 3 months at a Closure Order following the arrest and seizure of a large quantity of drugs. Two people are currently on bail for this offence. Following intelligence supplied by residents another male was arrested by the STRONGHOLD team after liaising with NHPT. 2 X further arrests have been made by the drug team- both offenders released on bail. These arrests were made following information supplied by residents. Continued patrols of the area and visiting known addresses of drug users/ASB.

ASB is being caused by drug users in a residential area that houses mainly older people and young families. The users are meeting up and dropping litter, urinating whilst waiting to be dealt to. The area is a natural cut through with lots of areas that are out of sight. a couple of related bike thefts have occurred.

Have been working closely with residents after they reported ASB where drug users are congregating and 2 x related bike thefts have occurred. Further work to be done around trying to identify the users and the dealer. Working alongside the drug team (STRONGHOLD) & HRU(HARM REDUCTION TEAM). Patrols of the area

They are then causing criminal damage to fittings, doors. They are leaving lots of rubbish around, using the areas as a toilet. 1 male is masturbating whist sleeping rough which has been witnessed by a tenant.

We have liaised with the relevant housing associations to get the doors secured securely. However one of the doors needs to be totally replaced so building is vulnerable until then. Regular visits by NHPT are taking place. Crime prevention advice has been given. Investigating the cctv at this point to see if we can identify the rough sleepers and male masturbating. Once the rough sleepers have been identified they will be issued with CPW or arrested depending on the evidence from the cctv. New cctv has been erected in one of the flats following a crime prevention meeting with NHPT. Following a meeting with the NHPT the communal door has been replaced and no further rough sleepers. Unfortunately they have moved onto to another block-BOURNE STEVENS CLOSE. The relevant housing association have been informed and waiting for a date for a crime prevention meeting. Have worked closely with housing association and all the doors to the flats have been fixed in the South Street addresses. The housing association for Bourne Stevens have had all the areas cleaned are waiting for the doors to be repaired. Continued with patrols in the area.
