Current priorities

Shoplifting - Godalming Town Reports of retail crime have been increasing nationally. Surrey Police have prioritised retail crime and has seen a significant increase in the number of offender identified arrested and charged for offences.

Local officers complete regular patrols of Godalming Town liaising with retailers and encouraging reporting of offences. We work closely with neighbouring forces to identify suspects and take positive action to bring them to justice. Last year we ran a week long operation targeting organised shoplifters resulting in a number of arrests, with a similar one taking place this year.
