Current priorities
Our business community in the town centre tell us how badly affected they are by shoplifting. We want to help to tackle this.
Our detection rate for shoplifting has increased from 26% in June to September 2024 to 39% over the same period in 2025. We are delighted to see the effect that the Business Crime Reduction Partnership has had.

You have told us how important it is that levels of antisocial behaviour and other crime in Eastwood are tackled.
We have been patrolling the area and have received feedback from the community that the Eldon Road Playing Fields are now much more pleasant and feel safer than before. We also have additional patrols planned over the Halloween and Bonfire Night period
Set: 2025-09-11
Widespread illegal use of E- Scooters/E-Bikes. Use by members of the public commuting. Often used by takeaway delivery drivers (Just Eat, Deliveroo etc). Often being purchased by parents for juvenile use. Apparent confusion around the legality of their use in public. Some confusion appears due to some Major Cities trialling rental schemes within certain City Centre boundaries. Many retailers including even large ones such Curry’s/Halfords possibly selling these without clearly outlining the law/limitations around their use. These matters are now being raised by MP’s, councillors and their constituents.
Continued seizure of illegal E-Scooters/ E-Bikes. Operations are being planned by Central NPT. Creation of a POP plan. Educational inputs by PCSO’s at schools/Life wise. Joint working with trading standards. Attending at local retailers to ensure a clear message is being given by them on customers purchasing, with a request to display our signage. Educational leafleting and signage placed in the town centre. Liaison with fast food outlets/ human slavery team.
