Blyth — Neighbourhood Policing Team

Northumberland is one of the largest counties to police in England and Wales in terms of square miles. Save for the south east corner it is a largely rural county. We have police bases in Berwick, Alnwick, Morpeth, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Prudhoe and Hexham.

Current priorities
Tackling retail and business crime in Blyth Town Centre
The Blyth team are working closely with local businesses and partner agencies to reduce retail and business crime. By sharing intelligence and targeting persistent offenders, we’re taking proactive steps to prevent harm, including the use of police powers and Criminal Behaviour Orders. We’re also supporting long-term solutions by addressing the root causes of offending with partners. In addition, the Neighbourhood Inspector and the Crime Prevention Officer have delivered bespoke training to local business owners.

Anti-social behaviour at Mermaid Car Park, South Beach.
We have received a significant number of reports of anti-social behaviour by people driving vehicles in an anti social manner, littering and noise complaints. We will be delivering a targeted plan of action to tackle the issue.
Set: 2026-07-03
Motorcycle anti-social behaviour
We work in partnership to deliver operations in hotspot areas, conduct joint visits, and issue Section 59 warnings. We uplift vehicles using powers where appropriate. Housing enforcement visits are carried out with partners to ensure a coordinated response.
