Current priorities

We are aware that there are vulnerable members of our community who do not feel safe to contact police to report issues in their neighbourhoods. Sometimes the concept of calling 101/999 is daunting and using the online reporting system is not an option.

We have recognised the need for more face-to-face community engagements within our neighbourhoods therefore we have increased our Community Connection events. We will be advertising them via our website, Facebook and Community Messenger. We will work with more venues, and going forward, they will also advertise our events to make it easier for those who don't have social media or computer access

Set: 2026-06-02

Each month, we send out a survey to our residents via Community Messenger to consult and identify the main concerns in Scarborough. We then add the results to our patrol strategies. To combat anti-social behaviour, we create hotspot locations, where we increase our patrols. The data from our surveys, reports to Police and from our partners forms part of the hotspot locations.

Our Residents Voice survey feedback told us that our residents were concerned about street drinking and youth related anti-social behaviour. In May, we added an extra 10 hours and 41 minutes of dedicated patrol to Longwestgate in the Old Town. We added more than 4 hours extra patrol to the nighttime economy in the Town Centre. An extra 15 hours and 26 minutes of patrol time was focused on Huntriss Row.
