Peterlee (Trimdon) — Neighbourhood Policing Team

Local policing team in the Durham Constabulary area: contact routes, current priorities and public events.

All Durham Constabulary neighbourhoods

The neighbourhood police team works closely with the local community to keep the area safe and peaceful. We focus on preventing crime, tackling local issues, and building strong relationships with residents. Our duties often include patrolling the area, supporting vulnerable individuals, working with schools and local groups, and responding to concerns raised by the community. We do this by being visible and approachable.

Current priorities

Youth Nuisance / ASB

To tackle this we have been: - Carrying out high visibility patrols along with colleagues from Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens Team and ASB Team - We have ASB meetings to discuss ASB suspects with our Durham County Council colleagues and housing provider teams. - Use of Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts (ABCs), Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices on offenders of ASB In recent weeks, officers have referred numerous youths in Trimdon to the Durham County Council Anti-social Behaviour Team.

Off-road bikes used illegally often cause noise nuisance, danger to pedestrians and damage to local green spaces. Taking these vehicles off the road helps prevent accidents and restores peace in our neighbourhoods. This remains as one of the priorities.

To tackle this we have been: - Carrying out high visibility patrols along with colleagues from Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens Team - Use Traffic 183’s, Traffic 184’s, Section 59 Powers, and No insurance powers to deal with riders and people identified as being involved - Work with housing providers of those identified as being responsible - Intelligence gathering
