Peterlee (Horden) — Neighbourhood Policing Team
Local policing team in the Durham Constabulary area: contact routes, current priorities and public events.
The neighbourhood police team works closely with the local community to keep the area safe and peaceful. We focus on preventing crime, tackling local issues, and building strong relationships with residents. Our duties often include patrolling the area, supporting vulnerable individuals, working with schools and local groups, and responding to concerns raised by the community. We do this by being visible and approachable.

Current priorities
Off-road bikes used illegally often cause noise nuisance, danger to pedestrians and damage to local green spaces. Taking these vehicles off the road helps prevent accidents and restores peace in our neighbourhoods. This remains as one of the priorities.
This is an ongoing priority and officers will continue to address ongoing off road bike issues, this includes: -High visibility and unmarked patrols in affected areas -Intelligence gathering in partnership with other agencies -Use of section 59 powers to seize vehicles involved in anti-social or illegal use.

Shoplifting: Shoplifting isn’t a victimless crime – it impacts local businesses, raises prices for honest customers and can contribute to wider issues of antisocial behaviour. Being visible helps us deter crime and support shop owners directly.
Action taken by police to tackle shoplifting includes: -Dealing robustly with offending involved in shop theft offences -Seeking remand for repeat offenders to appear at the next available court hearing -Applying for Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) against persistent offenders to help prevent further offending In recent weeks, officers have secured a Criminal Behaviour Order against a male repeat offender in response to ongoing offending behaviour.

Youth Nuisance / Anti social behaviour
To tackle this we have been: - Carrying out high visibility patrols along with colleagues from Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens Team and ASB Team - We have ASB meetings to discuss ASB suspects with our Durham County Council colleagues and housing provider teams. - Use of Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts (ABCs), Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices on offenders of ASB - Intelligence gathering - Working with and supporting victims of ASB
