Current priorities
Durham City Centre PACT Priorities: -Antisocial Behaviour and nuisance begging -Youth nuisance and anti-social behaviour specifically in the Bus Station and North Road.
The City Neighbourhood Policing Team have increased in numbers by 50% thanks to the Home Office Neighbourhood Guarantee. We also have additional targeted patrols on an evening funded by our partners Durham University. These patrols are during key Nighttime Economy hours and tackle noise, antisocial behaviour, and disorder. We work closely with key partners to tackle the issues in the city from a key cohort of individuals who are responsible for a significant number of incidents and have an innovative approach of using a traffic light system to challenge behaviour and reward better choices. Due to this we now have 25 of our worst offenders banned from the city under Criminal Behaviour orders and more to come – residents, businesses and visitors tell us this has made a huge difference in how the city feels. This is always work in progress, but we are heading in a positive direction.
