What the evidence says

Educational interventions aimed at preventing relationship violence in adolescents and young adults promote awareness of acceptable dating behavior and individuals' rights within relationships. While there is some evidence that these interventions may reduce crime, the overall statistical significance is lacking. The narrative is based on three reviews that analyzed various studies on the impact of such educational programs.

How it works

The intervention provides participants with skills to communicate effectively, manage stress, resolve conflicts, and promote healthier relationships. It also aims to challenge attitudes and behaviors towards dating violence.

Implementation

Common methods of delivery include videos, discussions, and role-playing. Training for personnel delivering the intervention is often provided, but implementation fidelity assessment varies.
